ethnic voting blocs
learn about our neighbors
A voting bloc is a group of people motivated by specific shared concerns who vote together. Ethnic voting blocs are comprised of different immigrant groups and their descendants that are settled in America and vote together en bloc. These groups can be as old as the republic itself, or much newer to our social fabric. All ethnic voting blocs have distinct histories and cultural norms that affect their political affiliations.
oh, the places we will go
Future works from Michael Byrd will take you on a trip back to the homelands of America’s peoples. We will explore the food, culture and histories of why they immigrated over. We will also look at what they’ve contributed to American culture and politics and how their histories affect the way they vote today. Understanding our neighbors is a bridge point in a partisan divide.
